These flexible opportunities are ideal for History Teachers who enjoy variety and want to make a positive impact across different secondary school settings. You will be supporting pupils in Watford and the surrounding areas, delivering engaging and high‑quality History lessons across a range of year groups.
Duties as History Teacher:
- Deliver engaging and well‑structured History lessons using provided plans
- Teach a range of historical topics in line with the national curriculum
- Encourage critical thinking, discussion, and analytical writing skills
- Adapt teaching approaches to meet the needs of mixed‑ability learners
- Manage classroom behaviour effectively in line with school policies
- Assess and record pupil progress where required
- Contribute to departmental planning during longer‑term placements
- Promote curiosity, historical enquiry, and independent learning
Ideal History Teacher:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
- Strong subject knowledge across the History curriculum
- Confident classroom and behaviour management skills
- Ability to motivate and engage pupils across different key stages
- Adaptable across varied school environments
- Strong communication and organisational skills
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting pupil welfare
