The Benefits team is currently seeking two full-time Clerical Assistant to provide essential administrative support across the Housing Benefit and Local Council Tax Support service. This role involves supporting the accurate and timely processing of claims within a busy, customer-focused environment.
Main Responsibilities
As a Clerical Assistant, you will provide administrative and operational support across the Benefits and Local Council Tax Support service, including:
Processing routine correspondence, forms and customer documentation.
Supporting the assessment of Housing Benefit and Local Council Tax Support claims by gathering, checking and verifying required evidence.
Updating and maintaining accurate benefit records and case files.
Handling incoming and outgoing customer calls, emails and written enquiries in a professional manner.
Assisting customers by providing clear guidance on evidence requirements, claim processes and general benefit-related queries.
Signposting customers to appropriate services, teams or external agencies when required.
Carrying out general clerical duties such as indexing, data input, filing and maintaining electronic records.
Supporting the wider team to ensure service standards, performance targets and deadlines are met.
