Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant (SEN TA)

Location: Surrey

Salary: £92.56 - £95.00 per day

Contract: Permanent

Ages: 11-16 years (Key Stage 3 & 4)

Empower Potential. Inspire Growth.

Are you passionate about making a tangible difference in the lives of young people? We are seeking a dedicated and resilient SEN Teaching Assistant to join our specialist team in Surrey.

Our school supports students aged 11-16 who face challenges with social communication, emotional regulation, and sensory processing-typically associated with Autism. With small class sizes and a multidisciplinary intervention team, we provide "every opportunity to achieve" through a curriculum personalised to each student's passions and needs.

The Role

Your primary goal is to establish positive relationships that help our pupils feel safe, happy, and ready to learn. You won't just be "helping out"-you will be a vital catalyst for their independence and personal development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Behavioural Support: Promote positive concentration levels and adapt your own responses calmly to any escalations or changes in pupil behaviour.

  • Learning Support: Implement and adjust learning activities as agreed with the teacher, reinforcing key concepts and providing the necessary resources for lessons.

  • Holistic Development: Provide meaningful feedback on pupil relationships and attitudes, maintaining high expectations for their progress.

  • Safeguarding: Take full responsibility for promoting the welfare and wellbeing of pupils in line with school policies, including Safeguarding and PREVENT duties.

What We Are Looking For
  • Empathy & Resilience: An individual who understands that "behaviour is communication" and can stay grounded during challenging moments.

  • Adaptability: The ability to pivot your approach to meet the sensory or emotional needs of a student in real-time.

  • Commitment: Someone looking for a permanent role who wants to become a consistent, reliable figure in our students' lives.
