Are you looking for an opportunity to excel and to gain further dietetic experience in complex Nutrition Support? We have an exciting opportunity for a self-motivated dynamic Dietitian with excellent prioritisation and organisational skills to gain experience in a fast-paced environment with support from our friendly team.
You should be experienced or keen and ready to upskill to the acute environment and be a competent practitioner with an interest and passion in complex nutrition support, surgery and gastroenterology. Experience in parenteral nutrition would be an advantage.
This post is for medical role, including supporting on ITU. There may be a requirement to cover gastroenterology during periods of leave and there may be an opportunity to rotate into the gastro/surgical role at a later stage.
You will be responsible for delivering high quality evidence based dietetic care to patients in gastroenterology, surgery and critical care. There will also be the opportunity to participate in weekly nutrition support team meetings, working closely with band 7 Dietitians, Nutrition Nurse Specialist, pharmacists and gastroenterologist. You will be responsible for the supervision and daily support of a band 5 Dietitian.
We are committed to work-based education and training to improve clinical skills and we actively encourage CPD and audit. You will take an active part in training students and clinical supervision programme of other staff.
• Provide specialist dietetic assessment for a range of patients within acute inpatient service including, but not exclusive to, gastroenterology medical and surgical wards.
• Provide specialist dietetic intervention for patients with complex nutritional support needs on the medical wards and ITU.
• Adapt dietetic practice to suit needs of patient, service and location of intervention in the medical and surgical wards setting.
• Working with the critical care dietitians to develop skills within the ITU setting for supporting the assessment, intervention and management of critically ill patients and to ensure adequate cover during planned or unplanned leave.
• Provide specialist assessment and intervention for patients referred to the dietetic outpatient clinics which include, but is not exclusive to, IBS and IBD.
• Provide clinical supervision and appraisal to junior staff, therapy assistants and students dependent on rotation.
• Participate in the delivery of staff training among the wider MDT on variety of nutritional interventions and to advocate dietetics in professional meetings.
• Working alongside the team and line manager, participate in ongoing service evaluation and development.
