This is a key support role in the Planning Department. You will be responsible for leading and managing day-to-day operations in the Planning Support team and develop systems and procedures to improve ways of working across the planning service, and specifically within Development Management. Reporting to managers of the planning service, you will lead a team responsible for Planning Support, including the validation of planning applications, Land Charges, and Business Support. This is a customer focused role.

About the Role:
The postholder is responsible for leading and managing day-to-day operations in the Planning Support team and implementing systems and procedures to improve ways of working across the planning service, and specifically within Development Management. Reporting to managers of the planning service, you will lead a team responsible for Planning Support, including the validation of planning applications, Land Charges, and Business Support. This is a customer focused role and requires someone who is driven by wanting to make a difference and do things better.
About you:
You should have a knowledge and understanding of local government and/or the planning process
You must have experience in a business support and supervisory role
You must be customer focused a team player
Proven information management, numeracy and ICT skills
You will have the ability to work effectively to meet challenging deadlines and competing & changing priorities.
The ability to improve business processes and to implement change
