Graduate Teaching Assistant | Haringey

Are you a recent Mathematics graduate looking to begin a rewarding career in education? We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Graduate Teaching Assistant to join a vibrant and inclusive secondary school in Haringey. This is an excellent opportunity for someone passionate about Mathematics and eager to gain hands-on classroom experience while supporting students in achieving their full potential.

About the Role
As a Graduate Teaching Assistant specialising in Mathematics, you will work closely with the Maths department to support teaching and learning across Key Stages 3 and 4 (and potentially Key Stage 5). You will assist in delivering engaging lessons, provide targeted academic support, and help foster a positive and productive classroom environment.

Key Responsibilities

Support the delivery of Mathematics lessons alongside class teachers
Provide one-to-one and small group interventions for students who require additional support
Assist in planning and preparing lesson materials and classroom resources
Help to monitor student progress and provide feedback to teaching staff
Encourage student engagement, motivation, and confidence in Mathematics
Support students with varying abilities, including those with special educational needs (SEN)
Assist with classroom management to maintain a focused learning environment
Contribute to after-school revision sessions or booster classes where required
Uphold school policies, including safeguarding and behaviour management procedures

Requirements

A degree in Mathematics or a closely related subject (essential)
A strong academic background and subject knowledge in Mathematics
A genuine interest in pursuing a career in teaching or education
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
Patience, adaptability, and a proactive approach to supporting students
Previous experience working with young people (desirable but not essential)
A valid Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one prior to starting)
