Crynodeb


The ward clerk will:



• Work collaboratively and co-operatively with ward colleagues to provide full administrative, reception and clerical support to the ward.

• Input and retrieve information from CERNER system

• Maintain data quality of all activity in the ward

• Manage patient case notes

• Work collaboratively and co-operatively with others to meet the needs of patients and families.





· Liaise with ward managers/team leaders, clerks and data quality staff to ensure accurate data is maintained.



· Provision of general non clinical advice to patient and their families- deal with face to face and telephone enquiries in a sympathetic, pleasant and efficient manner, ensuring messages are relayed in an appropriate manner, ensuring messages are relayed in an appropriate and timely manner, referring calls and enquiries to ward Manager where appropriate.



· Report any emergency or potential risk



· Liaise with medical records and other departments to locate patient case notes ensuring that information is current; are filed in good order and that medical staff have access to all relevant information, including test results.



· Ensure that any correspondence from the department (including patient discharge summaries) are appropriately addressed and sent in timely fashion



· Ensure the ward bed state is up to date



· Manage faxing of information and documentation as required by the ward manager/team to ensure timely, effective communication to appropriate areas
