Working on the full range of Estates services equipment, the Mechanical Estates Technician will undertake activities which require problem solving and solution identifying, along with analysis of complex situations to resolve technical issues on multifaceted equipment. You will be primarily based at the St James's University hospital site where we endeavour to create a welcoming and effective environment which allows patients to feel comfortable, and our staff to deliver the best care. Much of your work will have a direct impact on patient's and their experience within our Trust. As part of the engineering team, you'll enjoy an incredibly varied role and play a vital role in helping us maintain our buildings and support our clinical teams with delivering the highest levels of care. What you will bring to the role The role involves the install, maintenance, service and repair of a full range of Estates services and equipment. This includes being responsible for the calibration and fault finding on a wide range of engineering plant and equipment including ventilation, medical gases, heating systems, cold and hot water services, pressure systems including steam, building services controls, standby generator plant, refrigeration and all associated equipment from valves, pumps to calorifiers. You may undertake surveys, evaluate inspection reports and maintenance repairs, improvement and capital work across the Trust as directed by management, ensuring compliance with Trust safety standards and procedures. Plan and organise interruptions, maintenance activities and co-ordinates work of others. Provides practical training to others and evaluates work. Deputise for the Estates Officer on the full range of management duties as well as providing technical advice to other Estates staff and contractors.
