HGV Class 1 Driver – Night Store Distribution Driver (Temp to Perm)
Location: West Midlands
Job Type: Temporary to Permanent
Shift Pattern: Night Shifts – Start times between 17:00 and 22:00
Pay Rate: £17.50 per hour / Approx. £45,000 per annum
Millison Chase Limited is recruiting on behalf of our client for an experienced HGV Class 1 Driver to join a professional retail store distribution operation. This is an excellent opportunity for a dependable and self-motivated driver seeking stable, long-term night work with permanent career prospects.
This role is offered on a temporary-to-permanent basis, with the intention of moving successful candidates into a permanent role as quickly as possible. The standard pathway is permanent placement after 12 weeks, although this may happen sooner depending on performance, attendance, and business needs.
Role Overview:
This is a night-time store distribution role delivering to retail outlets for a major retail brand. Drivers will work independently as lone workers and must be comfortable managing store deliveries without direct supervision.
You will be responsible for opening delivery locations, unloading stock from the vehicle, and moving goods safely into store premises using tail lift equipment and electric pallet movers.
Deliveries will include a combination of:
Pallets
Roll cages
Mixed cage and pallet loads
Key Responsibilities:
Safely operate an HGV Class 1 vehicle for night store deliveries
Complete store deliveries efficiently and securely during overnight hours
Work independently as a lone worker at delivery sites
Open and access delivery locations as required
Unload stock using tail lift and electric pallet truck equipment
Move pallets and cages safely into designated store areas
Complete delivery paperwork accurately
Carry out daily vehicle safety checks and defect reporting
Requirements:
Valid HGV Class 1 (Category C+E) licence
Valid CPC and Digital Tachograph Card
Previous store delivery/distribution experience preferred
Experience using tail lifts and electric pallet movers advantageous
Ability to work independently and responsibly on night shifts
Strong reliability and punctuality essential
Drug and Alcohol testing and driver assessments carried out prior to job starting
