SEN Teaching Assistant


Location: Salford
Contract: Full Time, Term Time Only
Start Date: September

We are looking to appoint a committed and empathetic SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming secondary school in Salford from September. This is a full-time, term-time role supporting students, helping them to engage with learning, develop independence, and thrive within a secondary school setting.

You will work closely with class teachers, the SENCO, and pastoral teams to provide structured, consistent support tailored to individual student needs.
- Provide 1:1 and small-group support for students
- Support students with communication, emotional regulation, and social interaction
- Assist with adapting learning materials to meet individual needs
- Promote positive behaviour and encourage engagement in learning
- Support inclusion within mainstream lessons and targeted interventions
- Monitor progress and contribute to reviews and EHCP outcomes
- Build positive, trusting relationships with students and staff

We are seeking someone who:
- Has experience supporting children or young people with autism and SEN
- Is patient, calm, and resilient, with a genuine passion for SEN support
- Understands the needs of secondary-aged pupils
- Can follow individual support plans and classroom strategies
- Works collaboratively as part of a team
- Is committed to safeguarding and student wellbeing
- Previous SEN or secondary school experience
- Understanding of sensory processing needs and behaviour support strategies
- Relevant education, psychology, or child development qualifications
- A supportive and inclusive working environment
- Strong SEN leadership and pastoral structures
- Ongoing training and development opportunities

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
