This is a unique opportunity of a role designed to help you develop skills relevant to global health, including emergency medicine and infectious diseases in a regional unit. We encourage those with some EM experience and an interest in global health to apply.
With 6 months EM, 3 months ID and opportunity to work in QI, this post also has 3 months flexible self development time and generous study funding. People training in EM at any grade are encouraged to apply, working at junior or middle grade in ED and at an appropriate level in ID depending on the applicant. You will develop a bespoke development plan with supervisors in both specialties.
Emergency Department The department is seeing more than 110, 000 patients per year, 30,000 of whom are children. We have a team of fourteen consultants, two of which are paediatricians working full-time in paediatric ED. Infectious Diseases
The Specialist Regional Infectious Diseases unit (SRIDU) at NMGH provides secondary and tertiary infection services for the city and the wider North West region. We have a large team and over two inpatient wards, including 6 negative pressure rooms, we accept referrals for HIV care, TB, including drug-resistant TB brain infections, imported infections including severe malaria, community-acquired infections and high-consequence infectious diseases (with a ring-fenced bed for possible viral haemorrhagic fevers, MERS-CoV and others). We have a long history of research in HIV and hepatitis.

An average of one hour a week will be protected time to enable the fellow and educational supervisor/s to meet and review progress (this can be taken flexibly over the course of the fellowship), with at least six-monthly formal assessments (in the form of a Structured Training Report).
