Crynodeb

SpeechCogs is looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Speech and Language Therapy Assistant to join the team on a freelance/associate basis. This is a part time role with work spread across 3 days and around 25 working hours.

This is a mobile role involving a mix of sessions across schools, clients’ homes, and clinic settings. The role primarily involves delivering one-to-one therapy sessions, with some opportunities to support small group sessions.

You will initially work closely with and be supervised by a senior Speech and Language Therapist. This will include regular supervision and training to equip you with the skills and confidence to deliver therapy sessions independently and support ongoing programmes.

Role responsibilities:

Deliver therapy sessions following programmes set by the Speech and Language Therapist
Support children’s communication, language, and social development
Adapt activities to meet individual needs
Provide brief feedback following sessions
Travel to different locations for appointments

Essential criteria:

Experience working with children in educational settings
Experience supporting children with additional learning needs / special educational needs
Experience working with autism, ADHD, and social communication needs
Ability to work independently and use initiative
Energetic, engaging, and able to bring fun and enthusiasm into sessions
Full UK driving licence and access to a car
Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one)

Desirable:

Relevant college or university qualification (e.g. education, psychology, speech and language therapy, childcare)
Experience working with preschool children
Experience across a wide age range (18 months–16 years)
Experience in healthcare or therapy-based settings

This is a great opportunity for someone looking to build experience within speech and language therapy, working closely with a supportive and experienced clinician while developing practical, hands-on skills.
