Senior Claims Handler
Senior Claims Handler - £30,000 – £35,000 - Shrewsbury (Office Based)
The Job:
An opportunity has arisen for an experienced claims professional to join a growing and supportive business as a Senior Claims Handler. This is a key position within the team, offering the chance to take ownership of complex claims while supporting the wider claims function. You’ll be responsible for managing claims from initial notification through to settlement, ensuring a smooth and efficient process for clients at every stage.
This role would suit someone who enjoys a hands on approach, with the confidence to manage more complex cases and provide guidance to others when needed.
Key responsibilities:
- Manage claims from initial notification through to final settlement
- Act as a key point of contact for clients, providing clear guidance throughout the process
- Liaise with insurers, loss adjusters, solicitors and other stakeholders
- Monitor and follow up on outstanding claims to ensure timely resolution
- Ensure claim payments are processed accurately and issued promptly
- Deliver a high level of customer service at all times
- Support and guide junior team members where required
- Review claims for accuracy and compliance with procedures
- Assist in improving processes to enhance efficiency and service delivery
- Handle more complex or escalated claims cases

Our client is an established and reputable organisation operating across commercial, agricultural and personal lines. They are known for their customer focused approach and commitment to delivering a high standard of service.
The Candidate:
- Previous experience in a claims handling role, with exposure to more complex cases
- Background in commercial, agricultural or personal lines preferred
- Strong organisational and time management skills
- Excellent attention to detail
- Confident communicator with strong customer service skills
- Good problem-solving and analytical ability
- Experience using claims systems (Acturis experience beneficial)
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
Working hours:
- Monday to Friday, 9:00am – 5:00pm (including 1-hour lunch)
- Some flexibility may be required during busy periods
The Package:
- Salary of £30,000 – £35,000 per annum (dependent on experience)
- 25 days holiday plus bank holidays (increasing with service)
- Company pension scheme
- Health plan (after qualifying period)

Candidate Requirements
All applicants must hold a minimum of an NVQ Level 2, Scottish NVQ Level 2, or an equivalent qualification relevant to the role applied for. Candidates must also have the legal right to work in the UK or hold a valid visa permitting employment.
