Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust has ambitious plans to transform healthcare in North Manchester through the North Manchester General Hospital (NMGH) Redevelopment Programme which will deliver a new hospital and health campus at the existing North Manchester General Hospital site. This major investment will support the transformation of how we deliver our services and create modern facilities that support world-class clinical care for our communities. This role provides a unique opportunity to be part of one of the largest public sector health transformation programmes being delivered across Manchester.
TheNMGH New Hospital Technical Design & Construction Leadwill manage the technical design and construction of the new North Manchester healthcare facilities aligned to the New Hospital Programme (NHP) Hospital 2.0 Model standard. The post holder will provide specialist technical expertise to leading the development of the design and estates infrastructure within allocated budgets including the delivery of all enabling works projects ensuring there is minimal impact to existing hospital operations. As the Trust's expert in the technical/construction field, the post holder will interpret NHP and NHSE guidance and policy, ensuring compliance and which meets or exceeds the required quality standards. The postholder will be a chartered member of an appropriate construction, design or engineering professional institution.
TheNMGH New Hospital Technical Design & Construction Leadwill manage and deliver the following core activities:
• Responsible for the development of all technical design briefing documentation aligned to stakeholder requirements, MFT strategies and the NHP H2.0 Model.
• Responsible for ensuring the development, implementation, management and confirming compliance with BIM Standards aligned to MFT and NHP Hospital 2.0 standards and policies.
• Responsible for the development of key technical strategies including Mechanical, Electrical, Sustainability/Net Zero.
• Responsible for delivering the design to meet the requirements of the New Hospital Project TOM.
• Responsible for defining, planning and co-ordinating the achievement of standards such as BREEAM and the WELL Building Standard.
• Responsible for leading the development and delivery of the design of the new healthcare facilities to meet all NHP Hospital 2.0 Model Standards, HTMs, HBNs and other mandatory, national and best-practice healthcare and construction standards ensuring that any derogations are defined and formally approved.
• Define technical design and construction works quality standards ensuring these are fully defined in contract documents.
• Develop and implement a robust quality assurance process to monitor design and construction quality, safety and compliance with regulatory requirements.
• To review and comment on NHP Hospital 2.0 Model standards and their implications for the Trust.
