A Vacancy at University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust.
Registered Nurse - Oncology and Haematology
Supporting Cancer patients during diagnosis, treatment planning and administration of Systemic Anti Cancer therapies (SACT) following appropriate academic qualification and supervised practice.
Ideally 37.5 hours
Part Time may be negotiable based on hours/experience
Based across two sites - Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI) and and Westmoreland General Hospital (WGH). The bulk of our activity is at RLI, but please be aware that applicants must be prepared to travel to either site as required.
Administering Systemic anti-cancer therapies (SACT). Full training is provided through in-house supervised training and completion of an appropriate level 6 qualification.
Actively assess, plan, implement & evaluate the care of patients at all stages during a course of SACT, including pre-assessment, treatment delivery and aftercare.
Liaising with consultant teams and the multidisciplinary team, incorporating the whole of the patients’ pathway, to ensure seamless and safe care throughout the patient journey.
Assess patients and provide specialist advice via the SACT 24Hr helpline after suitable training and experience.
Awareness of the structure and organisation of the N.H.S. and regulatory body’s code of practice, implementing this into nursing practice.
Support Clinical Governance by participating in auditing effectiveness of practice and incorporating findings.
Act as mentor/assessor in supervising and teaching of junior staff and unregistered staff.
Act as shift leader or manage a team in the absence of the Ward/Dept Manager following a period of preceptorship.
We operate from three main hospitals-Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community healthcare premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.
FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services.
WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.
All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.
Our Community Service for adults are provided in people's homes ,community centres, clinics, GP Practices, community hospitals. Our aim is to work with people to help them remain independent , improve their health and manage their conditions through high quality care , advice and support.
