About the Role
We are seeking a skilled CNC Turner to join our manufacturing team, specialising in the production of high-quality acrylic medical columns. This role involves precision machining of acrylic components and engineering plastics, ensuring strict adherence to technical specifications and quality standards required for medical environments.
Key Responsibilities
• Set up, operate, and monitor CNC lathes to manufacture acrylic and engineering plastic medical columns and components
• Interpret engineering drawings, CAD models, and technical specifications
• Select appropriate tooling, speeds, and feeds for machining acrylic materials
• Ensure high levels of accuracy, surface finish, and dimensional tolerance
• Perform routine machine maintenance and troubleshooting
• Inspect finished components using measuring equipment (e.g. calipers, micrometers)
• Maintain a clean and safe working environment in line with health & safety regulations
• Work collaboratively with engineering and production teams to meet deadlines
• Identify and implement process improvements where possible
Skills & Experience Required
• Proven experience operating CNC Lathes (or similar CNC machinery)
• Experience machining plastics, particularly acrylic (PMMA), is highly desirable
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
• Strong understanding of CNC programming (Fanuc, Haas, or similar controls preferred)
• Knowledge of tooling and machining techniques for non-metal materials
• High attention to detail and commitment to quality
• Good problem-solving skills and mechanical aptitude
Desirable (but not essential)
• Experience in medical or precision manufacturing environments
• Familiarity with CAD/CAM software
• Apprenticeship or relevant engineering qualification
