About the role

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Digital Rehearsal and Animations Lead to join our Major Projects team based out of London, or flexible across the UK. The role will require visits to India.

Role purpose: The Digital Rehearsal & Animations Lead is responsible for running and growing Balfour Beatty’s Digital Rehearsal and Animations service, ensuring high-quality delivery, technical excellence, and continuous innovation.

What you'll be doing

This role will:

  • Lead the team delivering 4D simulations, high-quality animations, VR/AR
    outputs, and digital rehearsal models
  • Shape and guide the future development of the Digital Rehearsal Tool, working
    with technical, engineering, and product teams
  • Drive deployment, adoption and capability uplift across the business, ensuring
    Digital Rehearsal becomes a standard part of methodology development and
    preconstruction practice.
  • Provide leadership, technical direction, and a clear service model to internal
    customers, enabling consistent, scalable, repeatable delivery.

This role requires an experienced preconstruction practitioner with strong methodology development capability, creativity, and proven leadership.

Who we're looking for

Essential

  • Significant experience in preconstruction, methodology development, and/or
    planning in major infrastructure projects.
  • Demonstrated leadership capability: managing teams, services, or multi-disciplinary digital functions.
  • Strong creative and visual communication skills; ability to translate construction
    methodology into clear visual sequences.
  • Experience with 4D modelling, construction animations, design coordination, or
    digital engineering environments.
  • Understanding of construction sequencing, temporary works, constraints, logistics and safety considerations (as referenced repeatedly across digital rehearsal requirements).
  • Ability to collaborate with software developers, product managers, and technical
    specialists.

Desirable

  • Previous involvement in tool or product development, especially digital
    engineering, BIM, simulation, or workflow tools.
  • Experience with VR/AR workflows, game engines, or advanced animation pipelines.
  • Experience working with EDC/global capability teams.
  • Familiarity with ACC, 4D platforms, model federation processes and constructability reviews.
