This is an exciting opportunity for a self-motivated Physiotherapist to develop key clinical and team working skills.

You will join our dedicated & supportive team of Physiotherapists working within Dementia & Frailty services. The service operates Monday to Friday only with no on-call commitments. Your main base is on a pleasant site with good staff services, transport links and free bike & car parking places.

You will be supporting service users & their families and working closely with other members of the MDT on our inpatient units across Birmingham to promote both mental & physical health recovery and achieve meaningful goals.You will gain experience in a wide range of acute & long-term conditions including musculoskeletal, neurological, respiratory and frailty.

You will be responsible for managing your own caseload and time to meet the needs of the service and service users, with guidance and support from senior colleagues. There is potential to make peer links via neighbouring NHS Trusts.

As the team places great emphasis on personal development, you will have regular clinical supervision/ reflective practice and varied training opportunities.

The Physiotherapy service aims to support service-users through the use of Physiotherapeutic interventions to improve their mental wellbeing & physical functioning and to achieve their goals.

The post holder must participate in any rotation scheme within the trust, including Adults of Working Age, Specialities (such as Eating Disorders, Perinatal, Neuropsychiatry, Deaf services), Secure, and Dementia & Frailty.

Main Purpose:

To assess, evaluate, treat & advise service-users with varying physical and psychological conditions, individually or in groups.

To establish each service-user’s goals and create an individualised plan of intervention to enable recovery & progress towards these.

To maintain accurate and comprehensive records for each client and participate in MDT working, including with family & carers wherever appropriate.

To carry and prioritise your own varied caseload within allocated speciality area, acting as an autonomous practitioner.

To access advice and support from a senior physiotherapist as required.

To contribute to evidence-based audit, projects and other activities to further own development and to contribute towards further development of the service.

To act as clinical educator to student Physiotherapists as required, supported by the wider team.

To adhere to the agreed Job Plan in terms of both the range of activities and the split between Clinical Care (likely approximately 90%) and Supporting Professional Activities (approximately 10%).
