Crynodeb
The core responsibilities of the Phlebotomist are as follows. On occasion, there may be a requirement to carry out tasks not listed below, that are within the reasonable scope of the role. Obtain patients consent for the collection of a blood sample Performing venepuncture in accordance with practice protocols Blood pressure checks Maintaining accurate patient records Correct labelling, packaging and storing of samples Effective use of the specimen log, resolving any discrepancies Ensuring samples are sent to the laboratory in a timely manner Maintaining an effective liaison with laboratory staff Clinical room stocking as part of daily duties Working collaboratively with the nursing team, seeking guidance when necessary for patient related matters In addition to the core responsibilities, the Phlebotomist may be requested to; 1. Partake in audit as directed by the audit lead 2. Participate in local initiatives to enhance service delivery and patient care 3. Support and participate in shared learning throughout the organisation
