About the Role

We are looking to appoint a committed and resilient SEMH Teacher to join our specialist provision in Tonbridge. This is a full-time role supporting students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, many of whom may have experienced barriers to education.

The successful candidate will deliver a broad and engaging curriculum, tailored to meet the individual needs of learners, while fostering a safe, supportive, and structured environment that enables students to thrive both academically and personally.



Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver differentiated lessons across a range of subjects (or a core subject specialism) to meet the needs of SEMH learners
- Build positive, trusting relationships with students to support engagement and progress
- Implement effective behaviour management strategies in line with the school's approach
- Create a nurturing and structured classroom environment
- Monitor, assess, and track student progress, adapting provision where necessary
- Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, pastoral teams, and external agencies
- Contribute to individual education plans (IEPs) and behaviour support plans
- Promote students' emotional wellbeing, resilience, and social development



Person Specification

Essential:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- Experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs or additional needs
- Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills
- Ability to build positive relationships and engage hard-to-reach learners
- A patient, flexible, and empathetic approach
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children

Desirable:
- Experience in alternative provision, PRU, or specialist settings
- Training in behaviour management approaches (, Team Teach)
- Understanding of trauma-informed practice
