Summary

Location: Oldham
Salary: MPS + SEN Allowance
Contract: Temporary (with potential to become permanent)

We're looking for a Specialist Autism Teacher to join a dedicated SEN provision in Oldham, working with pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and communication needs.

This is a role for a teacher who understands that progress looks different for every child - and knows how to create an environment where those differences are supported, not challenged.

Here, success isn't just academic. It's about helping pupils feel safe, understood, and confident enough to engage with the world around them.

You won't be delivering off-the-shelf lessons.

You'll be:

• Teaching in a specialist autism provision built around structure and consistency
• Creating learning experiences tailored to individual needs, not group averages
• Supporting pupils with communication, sensory, and social interaction differences
• Using proven strategies to increase engagement, independence, and confidence
• Working in an environment where routines matter and relationships come first

Every small step forward is a meaningful achievement.

In this role, you will:

• Plan and deliver highly personalised, differentiated lessons
• Support pupils with ASC and communication needs, including non-verbal learners
• Use structured approaches to help pupils feel settled and ready to learn
• Encourage development in communication, independence, and emotional regulation
• Work closely with Teaching Assistants, therapists, and SEN professionals
• Build strong relationships with families and carers
• Create a classroom that feels predictable, calm, and supportive

You'll be helping pupils not just access learning - but believe they can succeed within it.

We're looking for someone who:

• Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
• Has experience supporting pupils with ASC or additional needs (desirable)
• Understands how to adapt teaching to suit individual learning profiles
• Is calm, patient, and able to respond flexibly to each pupil's needs
• Works well within a collaborative, multi-disciplinary team
• Is passionate about inclusive education and meaningful progress

• MPS salary paid from day one, plus SEN allowance
• The opportunity to work in a specialist autism-focused setting
• A supportive leadership team that understands SEN practice
• Access to ongoing training and professional development
• A pathway to a permanent position
• A role where your impact is genuine, visible, and long-lasting

The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. All applicants will be required to:

• Complete an Enhanced DBS check
• Provide satisfactory references
• Demonstrate a clear understanding of safeguarding responsibilities

If you want to be part of a setting where your teaching makes a lasting difference - not just academically, but personally - we would love to hear from you.
