Fixed term for 12 months
Up to 36 hours per week
Band 3 - Salary Range £29,103 - £31,409 per annum (pro rata)
Distant Islands Allowance of £2,578 per annum (pro rata)

An opportunity has arisen for Band 3 Receptionists in the new Walk in Clinic service. We have up to two full time posts available and would also welcome applications from individuals who are interested in part time hours.

In this busy and demanding post, you will find no two days the same – the Reception staff have a key role in answering queries from members of the public as well as typing letters and referrals. Previous experience of working in a GP Practice would be an advantage but training on the job will be given.

This contract is for a fixed-term period of 12 months. The reason for the fixed-term contract is funding for a walk in clinic pilot. If you wish to apply for this post as a secondment opportunity, you will need to discuss with your line manager before submitting an application.

Rise to the challenge and enjoy the opportunity - Shetland is a wonderful place to live and work. Shetland offers low pollution, low crime, excellent schools, great leisure facilities, unique wildlife and amazing scenery, whilst still only a short flight away from the UK mainland. To find out more about living and working in Shetland go to www.shetland.org and/or https://www.shetland.org/life

You will be expected to comply with the Induction Standards and Code of Conduct for Healthcare Support Workers within 3 months of commencing your role – details can be viewed on http://www.hcswtoolkit.nes.scot.nhs.uk/resources/hcsw-standards-and-codes/

For an informal discussion, please contact Kyle Malcolmson, Practice Manager, on 01950 461222.

Closing date for receipt of applications is 5th April 2026
Interviews will be held w/c 13th April 2026
