Bridgewater Community Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust and Warrington and Halton Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust plan to integrate and form a new organisation on the 1st April 2026. As such, if your start date is on or after 1st April 2026, you will be employed by the newly formed organisation. Should you join Bridgewater prior to this date, your employment will automatically transfer into the new organisation. The Trust wishes to appoint a dentist responsible for providing leadership in each area of current clinical practice. This person will be the Trust's internal clinical expert and reference point for the Trust's oral surgery and related services. This individual will work with the Network Clinical Director and Clinical Directors to ensure that patients receive the very best care from the Trust. Work will be carried out in accordance with the Primary Care Trust Dental Service Directions 2006, or such successor Directions as may from time to time be enacted. Reporting professionally to the Lead Clinical Director of Dental services you will assist with any clinical matters relating to oral surgery across the Trust footprint and undertake duties as delegated by the Lead Clinical Director of Dental services. You will attend relevant external and internal clinical networks, where necessary initiating and maintaining those networks. Tenure The role will be a permanent appointment. Duties and Responsibilities: Clinical The clinical activities undertaken by the post holder will be those necessary to comply with the Tier 2 oral surgery contracts that the Trust holds Communication Communicate effectively with the following. Patients, carers, families, and user groups regarding complex clinical issues relating to oral surgery and/or in difficult situations. Clinical teams and peers in relation to oral surgery in leadership situations. Other health and social care professionals relating to oral surgery. Operational managers and corporate services teams in Bridgewater. Management & Leadership Provide clinical leadership to oral surgery services operating across multiple sites Undertake appraisals, personal development plans and job plans for other dentists who work on the Tier 2 oral surgery contracts. Provide advice about: The legislative framework (For example in relation to GDC Standards) to support on such matters to other members of the dental team. Specialist registration and the provision of specialist and specialised care. Work with: Corporate support services in Bridgewater, for example in dealing with complaints and incidents. Manage: External relationships with senior managerial and clinical colleagues, including Operational Managers in Bridgewater and Commissioning Teams. Provide support and direct input to: Dental Clinical Governance meetings including audit Team meetings Any other such groups that may be established in Bridgewater. Professionalism Provide advice and/or support to colleagues or managers on ethical issues in relation to oral surgery including interpretation of GDC guidance (Maintaining Standards and CPD requirements.) Actively participate in and manage others in relation to appraisal, peer review, clinical audit and continuing professional development activities; lead peer review, clinical audit or CPD activities. Teaching and Training Organize clinical teaching and supervision programs for post-graduates in training programs, or for dentists in training. Participate in clinical research under the direction of approved and registered research lead and take the lead in clinical research projects falling within your competencies. Standard Information to be included in all job specifications Information Governance Employees of the Trust must comply with the provisions of the Data Protection Act 2018. The post-holder must not; either during the course of their employment, or following termination of their employment, disclose any information relating to service users or employees, or of the lawful business practices, of the organisation. The post-holder will be required, when and where appropriate to the role, to comply with the processing of requests under the Freedom of Information Act 2000. The post-holder must comply with Trust policies that protect the information assets of the organisation from unauthorised disclosure, modification, destruction, inappropriate access or use and must pay due regard to the requirements of the NHS Confidentiality Code of Practice. The post-holder will be responsible for maintaining the clinical and or corporate records that fall within the remit of this role to the standards in Trust records management policies, and data quality processes and standards.
