Summary

IAG Tutor

The IAG Tutor at Sodexo Justice Services, based at HMP & YOI Peterborough, plays a vital role in supporting prisoners to develop realistic education and career pathways that contribute to successful rehabilitation and resettlement.

This role focuses on delivering high-quality Information, Advice and Guidance (IAG), ensuring every learner has a structured Personal Learning Plan (PLP), and supporting progression into education, training, and employment opportunities. Working collaboratively with education and support teams, the IAG Tutor ensures all learners receive a consistent, inclusive, and impactful induction, alongside ongoing guidance throughout their journey.

Main Responsibilities
  • Deliver high-quality Information, Advice and Guidance (IAG) to prisoners, supporting their personal, educational, and career development.
  • Develop, complete, and maintain Personal Learning Plans (PLPs) to support progression and resettlement outcomes.
  • Facilitate education inductions, including initial assessments and onboarding of new learners.
  • Upload and manage learner data and PLPs on Virtual Campus, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Conduct one-to-one reviews to monitor progress and update career plans where required.
  • Work collaboratively with internal teams and external agencies to ensure appropriate referrals and holistic learner support.

The Ideal Candidate
  • Experience supporting individuals with diverse abilities within educational or secure environments.
  • Ability to build effective relationships with learners, including those with additional or complex needs.
  • Knowledge of the justice system and barriers to learning and employment.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workloads and meet targets.
  • Positive, adaptable, and motivational approach with a commitment to inclusion and diversity.
  • Holds, or is working towards, an NVQ Level 4 in Information, Advice & Guidance (or equivalent).

The successful candidate will be required to undergo an Enhanced Level 2 and Advanced DBS check.

  • Working pattern: 37.5 hours per week (Monday to Tuesday schedule as per rota)
