Gateway Housing has been supporting communities to thrive since 1926. We are an ambitious London based housing association with over 3,000 homes in the heart of London’s East End. We provide social rented homes, shared ownership, and sheltered housing. We develop new homes and also run our own in-house maintenance service, Gateway Homeworks. We are looking for an Apprentice Multi-trader (2 years FTC) support the maintenance, repair, and refurbishment of social housing properties across East London while working towards a formal qualification in a construction trade (e.g., Level 2 Property Maintenance Operative). The post holder will gain hands-on experience in key disciplines such as plumbing, carpentry, plastering, tiling, and general property maintenance.

Your duties will include but not be limited to:

• Interact respectfully and professionally with tenants while supporting repair works. Learn to manage communication with residents and represent the organisation in a positive manner.
• Assist skilled operatives with the maintenance and repair of residential properties, shadowing experienced tradespeople and gradually taking on tasks under supervision.
• Participate in on-the-job training and classroom-based learning to develop trade skills and knowledge. Complete all required coursework, assessments, and practical evaluations for the apprenticeship qualification.
• Follow all health and safety procedures and use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required. Learn to identify hazards and report risks to supervisors promptly.
• Engage fully with all aspects of the apprenticeship programme, including on-the-job training and off-site learning. Complete coursework, attend training sessions, and meet all milestones and deadlines set by the training provider.

• A reliable, punctual, and proactive approach to work.
• Commitment to completing the full apprenticeship programme.
• Basic understanding of health and safety awareness
