Sheffield United Women's Team are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Chartered Physiotherapist to play a key role within our Women's First Team environment. This is an exciting opportunity to work at the elite level of professional football, supporting the health, performance, and rehabilitation of our players through evidence-based practice and multidisciplinary collaboration.
The successful candidate will take a lead role in the assessment, diagnosis, and rehabilitation of injuries, while contributing to the ongoing development of best-practice physiotherapy protocols. Working closely with coaching, performance, and medical staff, you will ensure players receive comprehensive, high-quality care both on and off the pitch.
This role requires an organised practitioner who thrives in a fast-paced environment, is committed to continuous professional development, and is passionate about driving performance through effective injury management and prevention strategies.
Core Responsibilities:
- Fulfil the role of a chartered physiotherapist in the assessment, diagnosis and rehabilitation of all injuries. Whilst also providing support and learning to all other medical staff across Women's Football.
- Assist with the development of evidence-based protocols for all areas of physiotherapy relating to Women's Football, using all available resources including the latest research and collaboration with clinical specialists.
- Transition medium-long-term (<21 days and greater) injured players from gym-based to pitch-based activity, reflecting both the mechanical and physiological demands of the game.
- Collaborate with the MDT on all First Team injures, ensuring all departments, including but not limited to Psychology, Performance Wellbeing and Nutrition.
- Support and improve the delivery of Profiling and injury mitigation strategies across the First Team squad.
- Provide medical cover for all Home & Away fixtures. Liaising with and managing appropriate pitch side personal, including Physiotherapists, Paramedics and opposition medical staff.
- Record and continuously maintain medical records befitting of the CSP standard, whilst completing Women's Football wide clinical audits, ensuring standards are being met.
- Assist with the auditing of the medical department, ensuring that the Club is consistently meeting the licence and regulations it is bound by.
- Be available for occasional 'out-of-hours' responsibilities, including medicals, consultations etc.
- Lead on the medical process relating to new signings, ensuring the appropriate procedures are followed.
- Oversee weekly medical clinics for 1st team players, as and when required.
- Work closely with the 1st Team Physical Performance Coach, and other relevant staff, to ensure optimum rehabilitation and progression of injuries.
- Deliver, maintain and analyse weekly screening of all 1st team players.
- Maintain all legal and professional qualifications relating to your position within the Club.
- Observe, monitor and react to the ever-changing world of sports medicine; keeping up to date with all current research developments.
- Attend and professionally engage in the internal emergency aid staff CPD programme.

- Any other reasonable requests as directed by management.
Essential Requirements:
- BSc or MSc in Physiotherapy
- Valid HCPC and CSP Registration
- Experience of working within an Elite Sports Profession
- Pitch Side Trauma Management qualification (ATMMiF)
- Completion of an enhanced criminal record check through the Disclosure and Barring Service upon offer acceptance
- Good interpersonal skills
- Experience of field-based sports rehabilitation
- Excellent organisational skills
- A strong motivator, with high enthusiasm
- Student of the profession, looking to improve and develop
