Do you love seabirds, have experience and a passion for working in an animal care or rehabilitation setting?
Mousehole Wild Bird Hospital Cornwall provides high quality care, currently focusing on seabirds from around the Cornish Coast. Established in 1928 the core of what we do remains the same - our aim is to treat and rehabilitate wild birds at our care and return them to the wild.
We are recruiting Seasonal Workers to support the care of wild seabirds for our 2026 season, May – October. The role is part-time, up to 30 hours per week. Our hospital is open 7-days-a week, from 08.30 to 17.30. Applicants must be able to work a minimum of 3 days/ 18 hours per week and weekend working is required.
This role covers a variety of responsibilities relating to maintaining a bio-secure environment for avian patients and daily cleanliness of the hospital, diet preparation, facilitating enrichment, chemical handling, patient observations, laundry, waste management, supporting the work of the Bird Care Team and other duties as assigned.
We are looking for applicants who can work well within a team and be confident in carrying out duties independently, can prioritise the needs and welfare of patients and have good time management and a problem-solving mindset.
This role requires you to be 18 years of age. The nature of the work is physically demanding on a unique site in all weathers. Seasonal workers must be confident working around all avian species and have a keen passion for wildlife, care and rehabilitation.
This opportunity will give experience in the exciting and demanding sector of wildlife rehabilitation, animal husbandry and front-line conservation efforts.
