RTG is looking for an enthusiastic self-starter to manage the office of the Director General (DG). You will work alongside the Head of Private Office and Private Secretary to ensure the DG’s Private Office runs smoothly.
As part of a busy DG’s office, you will coordinate the DG’s attendance at meetings and site visits, provide business management support to help the Road Transport Group run efficiently and be responsible for managing DG Office communications, working with the DG to maintain and increase their visibility to both internal and external stakeholders.
Your responsibilities will include, but aren’t limited to:
Plan and deliver external DG stakeholder and site visits, both national and international, providing briefing and support to the DG.Work with the private secretaries to manage the Director General’s diary, ensuring their time is best used.Organise meetings for the Director General, including setting up suitable dates, room bookings, forward planning agendas, coordinating and circulating papers.Commission briefings and agendas and engage with various teams to make them aware of upcoming meetings, visits and speeches.Manage the DG events forward look, working closely with the DG Office’s comms lead and the wider departmental group communications and public affairs team.Ensuring travel arrangements, hotel bookings and conference arrangements for the DG are made well in advance, using the most effective means of transport and accommodation to ensure value for money.Provide corporate and business support for the DG and their team to ensure smooth and efficient operation of the DG’s Office.Act as an ambassador for the DG in Leeds or Birmingham, building strong relationships with colleagues from RTG and wider DfT.For further information on the role, please read the attached role profile.
