About the Role
We are seeking an exceptional and highly motivated leader to join our senior leadership team as Assistant Headteacher, with strategic responsibility for Behaviour, Attendance and Safeguarding, including serving as the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL).
This is a key leadership role where you will drive a strong culture of high expectations, inclusion, and student wellbeing, ensuring that every child feels safe, supported, and ready to learn.
Key Responsibilities
Behaviour & Culture
• Lead and implement a whole-school behaviour strategy that promotes high standards and positive relationships
• Monitor and evaluate behaviour systems, ensuring consistency across the school
• Support staff in managing behaviour effectively through coaching and professional development
Attendance
• Develop and implement strategies to improve student attendance and punctuality
• Analyse attendance data to identify trends and target interventions
• Work closely with families and external agencies to remove barriers to attendance
Safeguarding (DSL)
• Take lead responsibility for safeguarding and child protection across the school
• Ensure compliance with statutory safeguarding requirements and policies
• Manage safeguarding referrals and work with external agencies
• Train and support staff to maintain a strong safeguarding culture
We are looking for a candidate who:
• Is an outstanding classroom practitioner with a proven track record of impact
• Has successful leadership experience, ideally in behaviour, inclusion, or safeguarding
• Has (or is willing to obtain) DSL training and experience
• Demonstrates resilience, integrity, and a commitment to improving life chances for all students
• Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills
