What skills and experience we're looking for

We are looking for a dynamic Outreach Teacher to join our exciting and innovative Phoenix Outreach Service. Our service supports autistic children and young people in all Tower Hamlets mainstream school settings. We are based at Phoenix Special School, providing a unique opportunity to link outstanding specialist teaching and support with inclusive mainstream settings.

Phoenix School is a well-established with over 500 Students. It is an Outstanding (Ofsted 2024) special school for students aged 3-19 with severe language and communication difficulties including autism. The school offers a unique service to the children of Tower Hamlets. We are an award-winning school and accredited through the National Autistic Society; praised for our creative approach to working with autistic children. Phoenix was awarded a commendation for its excellent work across the school. We have opportunities in the Primary and the Upper school including 6th form, Primary Mainstream Specialist Classrooms and the Phoenix Satellites

The Phoenix Outreach Service supports over 80 settings including nurseries, primary and secondary schools. There are approximately 2000 pupils on our service caseload aged between 3 and 19. Tower Hamlets is renowned as a borough with a very inclusive ethos, and these values are evident in the schools that we support. You will be working in a position across a range of primary and secondary school settings, to support inclusive teaching practice and cultures. The role involves direct work with pupils, curriculum planning with teachers, contributing to behaviour support plans, and providing training for parents and professionals. It is a varied and exciting role, so the successful candidate will need to work flexibly and creatively.
