Job Description:
Mosaic 1898 are assisting a family to recruit between 1 and 3 dedicated and confident people to become a Personal Assistant/Carer for their adult disabled son who has complex care needs and epilepsy. He has cerebral palsy, global developmental delays and autism. You will need to support him whilst working alongside one other assistant (2:1 care), and as part of a team.
Working alongside one other Personal Assistant/Carer, you will be required to:
• Manage his personal care (including toileting, showering, oral care etc.)
• Support him to take his medication
• Assist him with a range of exercises
• Support him to access the community
• Conduct daily domestic duties
• Communicate effectively
• Assist in feeding and drinking
• Help manage his Epilepsy
• Assistance in mobility
• Prepare his meals
• Conduct Dynamic Risk Assessments throughout the day
Attributes and experience:
• A qualification in Health and Social Care or experience of supporting people with Autism/ Learning Disabilities would be advantageous
• A confident driver as you will be required to drive the man’s wheelchair adapted vehicle, and to be aged 25+ for vehicle insurance purposes, as he goes out every day
• Cooking skills to be able to provide simple meals
• Work well in a team, and be sensible and capable
• Willingness to learn
Hours:
You will be required to work flexibly between the hours of 7am - 9pm, including bank holidays and alternate weekends with the ability to cover for sickness and holidays when required. You will also be required to attend any pre-scheduled training days, which will be held during the weekday. Night shifts can be available if preferred.
