SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Old Trafford & Surrounding South Manchester Areas
Start Date: ASAP or September 2026
Contract: Full-time
Are you experienced in supporting young people with special educational needs? A range of mainstream secondary schools in South Manchester are seeking skilled and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistants to join their on-site specialist SEN provision, which supports students who require additional structure, smaller class sizes, and targeted intervention.
About the SEN Provisions
The provision offers:
- Small, structured teaching groups
- A supportive environment focused on emotional regulation
- Tailored learning plans for each student
- Close collaboration with the school's SENCO and pastoral team
You will work directly within this unit, supporting students who need additional help accessing learning while still being part of a mainstream school community.
Role Responsibilities
- Deliver 1:1 and small-group support within the SEN provision
- Help implement EHCPs and personalised learning plans
- Support social, emotional and sensory needs
- Assist with transitions between the provision and mainstream classes
- Build strong, positive relationships with students
- Work closely with teachers and SEN specialists
What We're Looking For
- Experience working with SEN pupils (provision or SEN school experience preferred)
- Confidence supporting secondary-aged learners
- A calm, patient and nurturing approach
- Ability to de-escalate behaviours and use positive support strategies
- Full-time availability, Monday-Friday
