An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Outpatient department for a Band 3 Healthcare Assistant. The successful candidate will be expected to work within all areas of Outpatients covering a wide variety of specialities at Blackpool Victoria Hospital and potentially Fleetwood Hospital. The Outpatient Department covers clinics from 8.30am to 5.30pm Monday to Friday.

1. Supporting the nursing staff, clinicians, and service users within the Outpatients services on a daily basis is a key aspect of the role. This includes meeting and greeting patients and service users during clinic times, ensuring clear and effective communication. Managing clinic activity promptly and keeping patients informed about their care is essential for smooth clinics.

2. The role also involves several administrative tasks, such as utilising basic computer programs and managing clinic lists. Ensuring the accuracy of paperwork and information recording is crucial.

3. Clinical duties include performing and recording patient observations, urinalysis, uroflowmetry, bladder scans, height and weight, wound dressings, sight visions and phlebotomy services. Also assisting the registered nurse and clinician in procedures.

4. Maintaining the cleanliness of the department and identifying and reporting any health and safety concerns are important for ensuring a safe and hygienic environment.

Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is ideally situated just a forty five minute drive from Manchester. The Trust provides services to the 440,000 residents of Blackpool, Fylde & Wyre and North Lancashire, as well as specialist tertiary care for Cardiac and Haematology patients.

As one of the United Kingdom’s largest coastal resort, Blackpool has plenty to offer its residents – it’s not just a good place to work; it’s a great place to live. In addition to its bustling centre and historic seafront, the town is world famous for its many attractions, including the famous Blackpool Tower. Blackpool also offers a number of scenic cycling routes round our local parks and across the surrounding countryside, as well as boasting panoramic views of the coast on its picturesque Promenade. Further afield, Blackpool also benefits from less than three-hour connections via rail to Edinburgh in the north and London in the south.

We recommend that all individuals employed in patient facing roles, or those located on a ward or department where patients receive a service should be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
