Crynodeb
Rebecca requires 1:1 support due to being blind and deaf. She also has anxiety, autism and ADHD. She has no behavioural issues and can communicate normally. She wears a hearing aid and uses a long white cane. Sighted guide training can be delivered by Rebecca’s specialist mobility teacher, if required.
Rebecca attends a special school, and we would like someone to take her to after-school/weekend clubs such as dancing, drama or horse riding. She loves stories, chatting, comedy, music, performing, Minecraft, Harry Potter and animals.
The main duties include:
• To support on a one-to-one basis.
• To assist with recreational activities.
• To organise and participate in events, activities and experiences which involve Rebecca in the local community in a positive manner.
• To encourage and enable Rebecca to make and maintain relationships with friends and family.
• To transport Rebecca to and from her home and various locations, as necessary.
• Some personal care will be involved such as toileting and dressing however Rebecca is quite independent and can manage most things independently.
• Depending on how long you are with Rebecca she may need eyedrops to be administered.
• To undertake any other reasonable tasks or duties as specified by Rebecca or her parents.
The following are ESSENTIAL requirements for this post:
• The ability to communicate effectively with Rebecca and to put her welfare at the heart of what you do with her.
• The ability to take responsibility for Rebeccas wellbeing and safety.
• To understand and demonstrate a healthy lifestyle and to take a positive and active role in activities alongside her.
• The ability to encourage and maintain positive relationships with friends and family.
• To understand the importance of maintaining confidential information.
• The ability to cope under pressure and in stressful situations whilst maintaining security and stability for Rebecca.
• To be reliable, punctual, and honest.
• To possess a full clean driving licence and be able to drive a car for use in taking Rebecca between her home and various other locations.
• To always demonstrate respect and dignity.
• The ability to always maintain the highest levels of professionalism and integrity in the performance of your duties.
• The ability to work flexibly, as agreed with the family, to ensure continuity of service.
• Previous experience working with young people.
