At SIG Roofing, we’re at the heart of the UK roofing industry. Through our nationwide branch network, supplier partnerships and commercial expertise, we help roofing professionals deliver projects every day. With over 100 branches nationwide – from Inverness to Plymouth – and more than 40 years of experience, we’ve built up a wealth of knowledge along the way.
We don’t just distribute products we make commercial decisions, that shape performance across our business. And we know that building strong futures starts with investing in the next generation of commercial talent.
The Graduate Category Manager role is designed as an early-careers pathway into category and commercial management, offering hands-on experience, real responsibility, and clear development over your first 24 months
Location St Ives, Cambridge
Scheme Duration – 2 Years
Job summary
As a Graduate Category Manager, you’ll join our Commercial team in a fast-paced support role that sits at the centre of how our product ranges are managed, developed and delivered.
With our support and your curiosity and ambition you’ll build strong commercial foundations, learning how product ranges, pricing, suppliers, data and governance come together in a live distribution environment. You’ll work closely with experienced Category Managers and senior stakeholders, gaining insight into how commercial decisions are made and brought to life across the business.
This is an ideal opportunity for a graduate looking to start a long-term career in product distribution, category management or wider commercial roles.
Your development
Our programme is a 2 year scheme, where individuals will gain an in-depth knowledge of the Business and the Commercial function. You will be supported with a 2 year development programme to focus on your core personal and technical skills to enable you to thrive.
Over your first 12–24 months, you’ll progressively move from supporting activity to taking ownership of defined category tasks and projects. You’ll be supported through on-the-job learning, mentoring from experienced Category Managers, and exposure to supplier engagement, branch operations and cross-functional working.
What we’re looking for
We’re looking for potential, not perfection.
You’ll likely be:
A minimum 2:2 degree in a business-related subject
Recently graduated within the last 3 years
Commercially curious, with an interest in how products, pricing and markets work
Data-driven and analytical, with strong attention to detail
Confident using Excel and PowerPoint, with a willingness to learn new systems
Organised, proactive and able to manage multiple priorities
A clear, confident communicator who works well as part of a team
Ambitious, persistent and keen to build a long-term commercial career
Full driving license and access to a car or ability to get to branch locations and occasional overnight stays may be needed.
Why SIG Roofing?
At SIG Roofing, graduates don’t sit on the sidelines. You’ll be trusted early, supported properly, and exposed to the commercial realities of a market-leading distribution business.
You’ll gain:
Real commercial experience from day one
Visibility of senior stakeholders, including the Commercial Director
A supportive, down-to-earth culture where learning and contribution are encouraged
A strong foundation for a long-term career in category and commercial management
Our benefits include
Competitive salary
Comprehensive benefits package including retail discounts and much more!
25 Days Annual Leave + Bank Holidays
A great pension, with SIG contributing up to 7.5% and up to 4x life insurance
Share Incentive Scheme
