Senior Commercial Manager
Location: Redhill (with travel to customer sites across the UK and Europe)
Hybrid working: Flexible home working available
Salary: £70,000
Contract: 12-month Fixed Term Contract
We are looking for a Senior Commercial Manager to lead the day-to-day relationship with Marks & Spencer, driving commercial
performance, strategic growth, and cross-functional collaboration.
This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in shaping customer strategy, working closely with internal teams across
category, supply chain, NPD, technical, and production to deliver sustainable growth and profitability.
The Role
Reporting to the Customer Director / Commercial Controller, you will manage and develop the customer relationship while delivering
commercial plans that maximise growth and opportunity.
You will act as the ambassador for the business with the customer, ensuring alignment internally and externally to deliver strong
commercial performance.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead the day-to-day management of the M&S account, including commercial performance and strategic development
* Drive and implement customer business plans across the organisation
* Build strong relationships with site teams, suppliers, and cross-functional stakeholders
* Work closely with category, supply chain, NPD, technical, and production teams to deliver customer expectations
* Analyse sales and market data to identify opportunities and performance drivers
* Develop and manage the annual promotional plan
* Support category strategy development and influence category direction with the customer
* Ensure strong communication internally and externally on key customer initiatives
* Proactively identify and deliver commercial growth opportunities
What We're Looking For
Essential Experience
* 3–5+ years’ experience managing major UK grocery retailers (e.g. Marks & Spencer, Tesco, Waitrose & Partners, Sainsbury's,
Asda, Co-op Food)
* Experience working with buyer-level stakeholders
* Strong numerical and analytical skills, with the ability to interpret sales and market data
* Proven track record of building and maintaining strong customer relationships
* Commercially astute and financially literate
* Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
* Excellent attention to detail and strong MS Office skills
Preferred Experience
* Experience in chilled or short shelf-life food categories
* Experience with category management and joint business planning
* Working with NPD pipelines and product launches
* Direct experience managing the M&S account
