Join Our Team as a Seasonal Shift Leader at The Riverford Field Kitchen
We’re looking for seasonal Shift Leader to join us at The Riverford Field Kitchen—our award-winning farm restaurant in the heart of Devon’s South Hams.

About The Riverford Field Kitchen…

Riverford Field Kitchen, our 70-cover farm restaurant, opened in 2005, and has been extraordinarily successful both in terms of reviews, awards and as a way of demonstrating how good seasonal vegetables can be. We change our menu daily according to what’s available – if something isn’t in season, you won’t find it on the menu.

More than just a veg box….Riverford are mad about organic veg. It’s at the core of everything we do. We love to grow it, pack it into boxes, and deliver it to around 70, 000 homes across the UK every week.
This takes loads of brilliant people – and working here makes you a ‘co-owner’, since Riverford is employee-owned. Success means much more than just profits; we want this to be a place people enjoy coming to work, and a business our co-owners feel proud of!
We offer a whole bucket full of benefits—33 days’ holiday (pro rata, including bank holidays), free organic fruit and veg to take home, 30% off veg boxes and our online shop, time and a half on bank holidays, free meals during service, and free parking on-site.
Salary: £14.36 per hour plus tips.

Location: This role is based at The Field Kitchen, Wash Barn, Buckfastleigh, Devon, TQ11 0JU.- We’re tucked away in the heart of the countryside, surrounded by fields rather than bus stops. That means you’ll need to live locally and have your own transport to get here.

This is a fixed-term seasonal contract running from April 2026 to September 2026, offering 30+ hours per week, with the potential for additional hours during peak times.

To meet the needs of the business, flexibility is essential—working hours may vary from day to day and week to week. Start and finish times will be guided by job demands, with as much notice given as possible. Evening and weekend work is a key part of the role.

What you’ll be doing…
Most of the week, you’ll be part of the team serving wonderful food and locally-sourced drinks; making fresh juices; helping keep the restaurant clean and tidy and occasionally harvesting some produce from our polytunnel and garden.

You will have some experience of waiting in a restaurant and be a natural at dealing with customers. An interest in, and ability to learn about, food, farming and the environment is a must as our guests have a lot of questions for us!

As Shift Leader, you’ll also be expected to ensure the smooth running of service once or twice a week in the absence of the Field Kitchen Managers. This will include writing up the daily menu with the FK Chefs, managing table & seating plans for our guests, organising the FOH team and liaising with the kitchen team to run smooth shifts and cashing up tills.

Apply to work with us…We review applications as they come in and may close the advert early if we find the right person. If this sounds like the right opportunity for you, we’d love to hear from you—apply soon to avoid missing out.
