Further details about the role
Music is currently part of the Expressive Arts Faculty which includes Music, Dance and Drama. The department offers a broad range of qualifications to meet the academic range of the school’s students. These include GCSE Music and a Vocational Award in Music Technology at KS4, and A Level Music and Music Technology at KS5.
The department has seen some outstanding results over the last 3 years. KS4 results were 100% 9-4 for GCSE Music in 2025 and we had a record result of 55% grades 7-9 which was impressive. Our Vocational Award in Music Technology equally has a particularly good track record of results – also 100% Level 2 Pass to Level 2 Distinction in 2025. A Level Music and Music Technology is particularly successful with results consistently above national averages, especially in Music Technology. Our KS3 projects have been designed to engage the younger years and encourage students to study a range of musical styles and genre through performance, composition and listening activities.
The department is a strong, friendly team of well-qualified teachers who look forward to new approaches to teaching Music and to engage the students and raise their attainment. The department works closely with other subjects within the Expressive Arts Faculty in a number of joint projects over the school year. These include a musical production each year, as well as the Music Department calendar of extra-curricular activities and events.
The Department consists of 3 main teaching rooms and a Recording Studio, as well as a suite of 8 practice rooms.
The department is supported by a Music Technician and a team of peripatetic instrumental tutors.
All applications will be considered including those new to the profession. We actively encourage applicants from all backgrounds.
