About Discovery
At Discovery, we're all about empowering those with learning disabilities and autism to live their very best lives across Somerset, BANES and Dorset. As part of Dimensions—one of the UK's leading not-for-profit organisations with over 40 years of experience—we're proud to champion support that's grounded in ambition, courage, integrity, partnership and respect. These aren't just values to us; they're the heartbeat of everything we do.
Every day, we support people to gain confidence, build independence and make choices that matter to them. For some, that might mean finding a job they love; for others it's about learning new skills, exploring hobbies, or simply having the right support to navigate daily life. We believe meaningful employment can be life-changing, and we work closely with individuals to develop strengths, open doors to opportunities, and secure roles that feel truly right for them.
Your efforts are recognised and rewarded with benefits and recognition programs that matter - supporting your wellbeing, financial security, and work-life balance.
Thanks to our amazing teams, Dimensions Group has been accredited as a Great Place to Work for 2026 — our eighth consecutive year of recognition.
About the role
This weekend-only Support Worker role is a wonderful opportunity for someone looking for a meaningful part-time position where every shift genuinely makes a difference. At Rhydderch House, you'll be supporting five ladies aged between 60 and 90, soon to be six, who have a range of needs including Autism, Learning Disabilities, Dementia, Down syndrome and mental health conditions. Support varies from full personal care, including continence care, to gentle prompting, and four people use wheelchairs, with hoists available where needed.
Weekends in the house are warm, lively and filled with personality. The ladies enjoy musicals from the ABBA and Cliff Richard era, visiting local cafés, shopping for clothes, arts and crafts, jigsaw puzzles, colouring and knitting. One person loves peaceful visits to Chard Reservoir, while others enjoy trips for soft drinks from the local shop, meals out, bowling, and attending church on Sundays. There is also a hydropool and swimming opportunities, so you'll need to feel comfortable getting into the water, and the summer house in the garden offers a lovely space that can be used more often.
Shifts: Friday, Saturday and Sunday (7/8am - 2:30pm / 2pm - 10pm and 3pm - 9pm)
