The team at Burnside Day Opportunity Service is looking for an experienced Senior Support Workers to #BeTheDifference. Within our day opportunity service, we support individuals to live the life they choose, champion 'ordinary life' and feel part of their local communities.

About The Job

Hourly Rate: £15.84 - £16.61 (inclusive rate)/ Annual Salary: £27,254 - £28,598

Working Pattern: Full Time (37 hours) Monday - Friday, between the hours of 08:30-17:00. Working pattern will be discussed at interview

Contract Length: Permanent


Location: Burnside, Burgess Hill

About You

To become a Senior Support Worker with us you will:

Experience and Skills

Key Skills (These will be used as the shortlisting criteria)

  • You are able to interpret information, such as service complaints, and redirect them to the appropriate person to provide quick and accurate resolution.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • You will show the ability to deal appropriately with expressive behaviour from the people we support, and respond sensitively to their families and carers.
  • Confident in building relationships with people from a wide variety of cultural, religious and ethnic backgrounds.
  • Enjoy working as part of a team completing shared tasks as required.

Qualifications and/ experience

  • Basic literacy and numeracy skills, in order to record and document activities in the provider plans.
  • Basic understanding of the needs of the people we support and their rights as an individual.
  • Demonstrable successful experience of working as part of a team.
  • Experience in offering accessible digital, multi-media groups or community-based activities - Desirable
  • NVQ 2/Diploma in Care or equivalent qualification - Desirable
  • Previous experience of working in a care setting and with people who have a disability or are vulnerable - Desirable
