Your new role
As Finance Manager, you will take ownership of the day‑to‑day running of the finance function, reporting directly to the Managing Director. This is a hands‑on role where you will manage the full accounting cycle and provide valuable financial insight to support future planning.Your responsibilities will include:
- Managing, supporting and developing a finance assistant
- Overseeing purchase and sales ledger activity
- Bank reconciliations and cashflow oversight
- Preparing quarterly management accounts and reporting packs
- Budgeting and forecasting
- VAT returns and statutory submissions
- Payroll processing and administration
- Maintaining HR‑related personnel records and producing contracts
- Supporting wider office operations typical of a small business leadership team
What you'll need to succeed
To excel in this position, you will need:
- Experience working across all areas of accounts and payroll
- Strong working knowledge of Excel and cloud‑based accounting software (Xero or similar)
- Proven month‑end experience, including management accounts and reporting
- Good understanding of VAT, PAYE, NIC, pensions, and P11Ds
- The confidence to work autonomously, make decisions and support non‑finance colleagues
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to operate within a small, collaborative management team
- XERO Experience
