Location: Brighton
Salary: £45,750 – £60,112 (including allowances), pro rata
Contract: 12-month Fixed-Term (Maternity Cover)
Hours: Part-time, 22.5 hours per week

Overview

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a qualified Veterinary Surgeon to join a well-established and highly collaborative veterinary hospital in Brighton on a 12-month fixed-term basis. This role offers the chance to work within a purpose-driven organisation, delivering vital care to pets while supporting owners facing financial hardship.

The Role

This is a varied and rewarding position where no two days are the same. You will manage a diverse caseload of medical and surgical cases, allowing you to fully utilise and further develop your clinical skills.

The role requires a confident and pragmatic clinician who can make sound, evidence-based decisions and communicate effectively with clients to deliver appropriate treatment plans tailored to individual circumstances.

You will work as part of a supportive, experienced team, contributing to a collaborative environment focused on high standards of patient care and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

Deliver high-quality veterinary care across a varied caseload
Perform routine and emergency medical and surgical procedures
Develop and communicate practical treatment plans
Build strong relationships with clients and colleagues
Contribute to a positive, team-oriented working culture

Candidate Requirements

Qualified Veterinary Surgeon (RCVS registered or eligible)
Strong clinical decision-making skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
Ability to manage a varied caseload with confidence and resilience
A collaborative and team-focused approach

Working Pattern

3 days per week (22.5 hours)
1 in 6–7 weekends (8am–8pm) with additional pay and time off in lieu
1 in 6–7 late shifts (until 10pm), including on-call responsibilities
Occasional remote/teleconsultation shifts
