" Ofsted 2025JOB OVERVIEW:St Denys CE Infant School is a nurturing, values‑driven school where every child is cherished as an individual. We are seeking a committed and compassionate Emotional Literacy Support Assistant (ELSA) to join our amazing school team. As an ELSA, you will support children who need extra help to understand and manage their emotions, develop positive relationships and build resilience. You will plan and deliver tailored one‑to‑one or small‑group sessions focusing on areas such as self‑esteem, social skills, anxiety, anger management and coping strategies, using creative and play‑based approaches.You will work closely with the Senior Leadership Team, SENDCo, class teachers, parents and external professionals to ensure that each child receives high‑quality, consistent support. You will monitor progress, adapt sessions to meet individual needs and contribute to our wider pastoral provision, helping to create a safe, nurturing environment where all children feel listened to and valued.WE ARE LOOKING FOR SOMEONE WHO:• Has a good standard of education (see Person Specification for details)
• Is enthusiastic, adaptable and able to work both independently and as part of a team
• Has experience supporting teaching and learning across the EYFS and Key Stage 1 phase
• Has experience or understanding of working with pupils with a range of needs including ASD/ADHD, SEMH and SEND
• Has up to date knowledge of current educational practice, including the SEND Code of Practice
• Can plan and deliver structured emotional literacy interventions using creative, child centred approaches
