The main duties of the job To provide and maintain a high standard of nursing care for patients as well as providing nursing assistance to the doctors and other members of the primary healthcare team. The duties will include: All tasks normally undertaken by an experienced RGN and in addition any rules agreed between the nurse and doctors as appropriate. Registering pathology test for example urine culture swabs Interest in Asthma, COPD and learning difficulties Chaperoning and assisting patients who are being examined by clinician Attend and participate in the practices MDT To manage patients with chronic disease running specific clinic sessions and maintaining robust call and recall systems Participate in national screening work such a cervical cytology and deliver the national immunisation vaccine schedules Administration to maintain accurate patient records and enter onto EMIS using agreed Read Code and templates Ensure accurate entries Maintain stock of waiting room leaflets health promotion leaflets Offer advice about childhood and adult vaccinations and ensure vaccines are administered under patient group directions Monitor vaccinations to maintain stock levels Running well person clinics and health promotion programs to provide a holistic assessment and lifestyle advice on diet, smoking, alcohol intake and exercise Able to document consultations according to the NMC guidelines Ensuring awareness of statutory and local clinical protection procedures including systems of referral ability to recognise signs and symptoms of child abuse Follow agreed clinical protocols with referral to GPs as appropriate
