Job Title: Personal Care Assistant / Support Worker
Responsible to: The employer
Hours: 10 to 30 Hours per week
Hourly Rate of Pay: £12.48 Per Hour
Based at: Bulkington CV12
Job Purpose
To support a 29 year old gentleman who lives at home with his family and assistance dog on a casual basis. The gentleman enjoys accessing the community, visiting local garden centres, going to the Gym and going out to eat. The gentleman has type 1 diabetes, autism, severe visual impairment, challenging behaviour and agoraphobia.
Main duties
Personal Care: There are aspects of personal care involved in this role including assistance using the bathroom and washing, prompting and administering medication. Training will be provided.
Social Support – You will need to support the gentleman to access the services he already uses and other community-based activities that he enjoys e.g. going to local garden centre. You will be helping the gentlemen stay active and support with learning at home and attend medical appointments.
Domestic support: Assist with household chores and general homemaking, support with food shopping and preparing meals.
Perform any duties that are of a reasonable request
Person Specification:
Driver is essential, employer has his own vehicle
Be a dog lover as you will be helping care for an assistance dog.
Be patient and supportive.
Be friendly and outgoing.
Be honest, reliable, and trustworthy.
Be respectful of the employer’s dignity, at all times.
Understand the need for privacy and confidentiality.
You should have a thorough understanding of personal safety.
Excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills.
A willingness to undergo any training highlighted by the employer.
