KPi Education is seeking a dedicated Therapeutic Education Practitioner to join a highly respected, trauma-informed provision supporting young people who are unable to access mainstream or specialist education.

About the Provision

This innovative and nurturing education provider specialises in supporting neurodiverse learners, including those with:

• Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
• Social, Emotional & Mental Health (SEMH) needs
• Trauma and attachment difficulties
• Communication and behavioural differences
• Significant barriers to school attendance

Through personalised, therapeutic education delivered in homes, schools, and community settings, the provision helps learners rebuild trust, develop stability, and re-engage with learning at their own pace.

The Role: Therapeutic Education Practitioner

As a THERAPEUTIC EDUCATION PRACTITIONER , you will work closely with pupils aged 11–25, delivering tailored educational and therapeutic support aligned with their EHCPs and wider care plans.

Your key responsibilities will include:

• Supporting the lead teacher in delivering personalised lessons and interventions
• Planning creative, flexible learning experiences in community settings (e.g. libraries, museums, parks)
• Applying trauma-informed approaches to support emotional regulation and wellbeing
• Conducting home visits, assessments, and supporting transitions
• Ensuring safeguarding and risk management procedures are followed at all times
• Acting as the appropriate adult when working with learners outside school environments
• Promoting development in literacy, numeracy, social skills, and confidence
• Writing progress reports for parents, senior leaders, and external professionals
• Implementing behaviour support strategies and recognising achievements
• Supporting pupils through induction and reintegration into education

Person Specification

Essential:

• A degree in Psychology, Education, Social Work, Youth Work, Mental Health, Counselling, Criminology, or a related field
• Experience working with children or young people (ages 11–25)
• Understanding of autism, neurodiversity, SEMH, and trauma-informed practice
• Strong behaviour management and safeguarding knowledge
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently, creatively, and flexibly
• Commitment to continuous professional development and reflective practice

Desirable:

• Experience supporting ASC and SEMH needs
• Knowledge of the National Curriculum and therapeutic teaching approaches
• Physical intervention training
