At St George’s Hospital, we are dedicated to helping individuals achieve their highest level of independence and quality of life through personalised, evidence-based physiotherapy. An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic physiotherapist to join our well-established cardiorespiratory team as Respiratory Outpatients and Pulmonary Rehabilitation Team Lead Physiotherapist. The Cardiorespiratory team comprises Cardiothoracic, General ITU and Surgery, Acute and Respiratory Medicine and Community Respiratory.
As the Respiratory Outpatients and Pulmonary Rehabilitation Team Lead you would be responsible for leadership and operational management to a physiotherapy team providing pulmonary rehabilitation across Wandsworth whilst holding your own specialist caseload of Respiratory Outpatients including delivering Pulmonary Rehabilitation programmes. The role delivers evidence-based person centred care, comprising comprehensive holistic assessment and treatment of complex respiratory patients in both the acute and community settings.
We are seeking an experienced and driven physiotherapist with a passion for respiratory care to lead and develop the Pulmonary Rehabilitation and Outpatient respiratory physiotherapy service across Wandsworth. This role will provide expert clinical assessment, high quality treatment and effective leadership to ensure the delivery of a responsive and patient centred service.
The post holder will undertake highly specialist assessment, diagnosis and management of patients with complex multi-faceted respiratory conditions including post discharge, exacerbations and palliative respiratory management in both the acute and community settings.
As the Pulmonary Rehabilitation and Respiratory Outpatients team lead, you will work autonomously, support on-call respiratory services and offer expert guidance to junior staff.
The role includes day‑to‑day operational leadership of the community respiratory physiotherapy and pulmonary rehabilitation pathways, overseeing rotas, caseloads, and service quality. The postholder will line manage staff, support training and supervision, and contribute to the education of students and the wider team.
You will drive service development through audit, quality improvement, and implementation of national guidelines, ensuring evidence‑based, patient‑centred care. Strong collaborative working is essential, involving regular communication with MDT colleagues, community teams, and external partners to support integrated respiratory care.
