Contract: Full-time, long-term temporary
Long Term Futures is seeking a patient, consistent and proactive SEN Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a Year 1 pupil with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in a supportive Haringey primary school.
This role is ideal for someone with experience in ASD support who understands the importance of structure, routine and clear communication in helping pupils access learning and feel secure within the classroom.
About the Role
Working closely with the class teacher and SENCo, your responsibilities will include:
* Providing dedicated 1:1 support throughout the school day
* Supporting a pupil with ASD to access learning and remain engaged
* Using visual timetables, structured routines and clear communication strategies
* Supporting emotional regulation and transitions between activities
* Encouraging positive behaviour and social interaction
* Assisting with phonics, early maths and classroom-based learning
* Monitoring progress and feeding back to staff to ensure consistency
This is a rewarding role where building trust, consistency and confidence will be key to the pupil's development.
Ideal Candidate Profile
* Experience supporting pupils with ASD, ideally in KS1
* Calm, patient and consistent approach
* Understanding of visual supports and autism-friendly strategies
* Strong communication and relationship-building skills
* Reliable and committed to a long-term role
