To proactively support the Information Governance Manager with the development and management of the Trust’s Information Governance (IG) framework and annual work programmes.

To promote awareness and best practice in all aspects of IG for the efficient management and effective use of information and knowledge assets, in line with legal requirements and NHS initiatives.


To monitor the performance of improvement plans against the Data Security and Protection Toolkit (DSPT), and Care Quality Commission (CQC) requirements and standards across the Trust’s services and provide assistance with the completion of submissions and evidencing on-going compliance.


To support the mobilisation of new services/systems to ensure all activities are confidential, secure and comply with IG requirements.


To provide IG training, support and advice to staff as required.


To maintain an awareness of all aspects of legislation, national guidance and policy relating to IG.

PROFESSIONAL
Contribute to the development of Trust-wide IG strategies, policies and guidance to promote best practice” and consistency across the Trust.
Encourage, promote and motivate staff to engage in IG, providing the appropriate support to staff to maintain and improve organisational performance.
To assist with information sharing and information risk management tasks and activities.
Assist with Freedom of Information and Access to Records Requests.
Maintain a record of the Trust’s information systems, undertaking regular audits and security reviews to ensure the systems are kept secure with appropriate access controls and responding to security-related incident(s) appropriately.
Work proactively with the owners of the Trust’s information systems to ensure that the Trust’s Information Asset Register is maintained, risk-assessed and up-to-date and that all owners and administrators are appropriately briefed, trained and supported in their roles.
Maintain the Trust’s information flow maps between the Trust and its partner organisations – providing advice and guidance where necessary. Undertake risk assessments of all information flows to ensure they do not contravene Trust policies and procedures (and therefore national guidance/legislation).
Provide support in developing information sharing agreements for information flows between the Trust and its partner organisations.
Work closely with the IM&T Security Team to ensure IT Security issues are managed appropriately and in a timely manner.
Work collaboratively with colleagues to identify any new working practices required to deliver a secure and confidential organisation, including supporting the completion of Data Protection Impact Assessments where necessary.
Support the development of new services/systems to ensure IG arrangements are robust and high standards are established from the beginning.
To ensure that all IG incidents are recorded as per the Trust’s policies.
Act as the first point of contact for any IG incidents, ensuring appropriate actions are taken as quickly as possible, lessons are learned and, where necessary, incidents are escalated.
Provide reports on IG incidents to the relevant meetings, ensuring trends and areas of concern are flagged up for further discussion and action.
Assist in investigating any breaches of IG, including reviewing audit trails, manually checking individual’s accounts, interviewing staff and producing system reports regarding activity, etc.
Assist with maintaining the Caldicott Issues Log.
Plan, implement and manage specific projects to ensure targets are met.
Assist with the production of literature in line with the IG communications plans to raise awareness with both the Trust’s staff and its patients, carers and partner organisations. This may include the development and maintenance of Intranet and Internet sites, leaflets, posters, articles, etc.
Attend relevant meetings, seminars and conferences as necessary.
Deputise for other members of the IG Team as and when required.
To be responsible for the line management of staff within the team, including managing supervision and performance appraisals.

EDUCATION AND DEVELOPMENT
To agree and review own objectives with their line manager and to ensure a Personal Development Plan is produced.
Participate in regular supervision, engage in reflective practice and be committed to continued development.
Develop own skills and knowledge and contribute to the development of others.
Write, develop and deliver clear IG training and awareness materials to a wide range of staff across the Trust on complex and specialist topics in a way that complements the Trust’s E-Learning system.
Maintain an awareness of all aspects of legislation, national guidance and policy relating to IG, including current and possible future trends in network and IT security.

RESEARCH AND AUDIT
Participate in Trust-wide audit programmes as relevant to the post.
Undertake IG audits.
