Crynodeb

Are you looking for a new challenge or an opportunity to make a real difference to communities across the East Midlands? We are looking for highly motivated, confident and enthusiastic people to join our team and help manage our flood risk assets (such as flood walls, embankments and flood storage areas) to reduce flood risk to people and properties throughout the East Midlands.

In this role, you will help manage our asset data to ensure it is of the best quality and can be relied upon to inform our future investment programme and make evidence-based decisions across our asset management activities. You will also assist other members of the team to prepare basic reports, identify concerns and provide a first level response to support asset management activities and decisions.

You will use your excellent communication skills to co-ordinate and chase responses to correspondence and enquiries, ensuring that internal and external information is effectively processed and tracked to ensure compliance with Environment Agency policy and procedure. You will also act as a point of contact, working with peers internally and local contacts externally to help minimise the risks associated with our assets.

You will also work within the team to operate and maintain data and information systems effectively. You’ll ensure records are stored accurately, are up to date and readily accessible to facilitate team activities.

We are fully committed to having an inclusive workforce to reflect the communities we serve. We welcome flexible working patterns for all our vacancies, including job-share, so please include any information regarding your preferred working arrangements on your application.

The team

The Asset Performance team is a diverse and dispersed team which is responsible for the overall performance of our flood risk assets across Nottinghamshire.

We ensure all assets are inspected, assessed, maintained and operated in a safe, efficient and effective manner to reduce flood risk for people and property. Our team comprises a mix of civil engineers, data and maintenance officers, asset inspectors and technical support.

Experience/skills required

We are looking for enthusiastic, driven, and adaptable people to join our Asset Performance team. It’s important that you’re skilled at managing multiple priorities and competing demands. You will be an excellent communicator and must also understand the importance of teamwork and collaboration.

You will be expected to:

Exercise judgement in prioritisation and highlight potential issues.
Have a good level of literacy and numeracy.
Build relationships based on understanding customers’ needs and providing the service required.
Use standard IT packages efficiently to deliver work and able to learn specialised systems as required.
Communicate effectively with others in everyday working relationships and sometimes communicate outside of your area of activity with wider teams and customers.
While Asset Management experience and a Driving Licence are not required, both are desirable.
